One Legged Steve - Spooky Tales Collection

written Leighroy Marsh - AUTHOR/SONGWRITER
http://www.hpmmedialtd.com
There is an old pirate called 'One Legged Steve'

Who lives in the same part of town that I do

There’s a sad sorry tale behind the strange name

And the reason that Stephen needs only one shoe!

Was it eaten by sharks?

Or

Lost in the park?

Or

Dropped down a well that was cold, wet and dark?

No!

The truth is more scarier, and really quite sad

And once you have heard it, you may understand

How this unlucky pirate, who wasn’t all bad

Never again, set foot off dry land.

Are you with me my crew? (arrgh)

Well listen close

And I’ll tell you of One Legged Steve and the Ghost
On a dark stormy night, far out in the sea

Cap’n Steven was leaving the heaving to me,

I heaved and I ho’d like a good pirate should

But the storm was too fierce, and it split both the masts

Are you with me my crew? (arrrgh) they all said

And off we were carried, away from our course

Whilst I and the Captain held tight and stood fast

All through the night, the stormy wind blew

It took us away from the places we knew

Until close to an island our good ship did sink

And the captain and crew ended up in the sea

Swimming for shore, as fast as we could

With the clothes on our back and the shoes on our feet

But with nothing to drink - and no food to eat

As I gathered the crew who lay on the beach

Capt’n Stev’n was grieving his loss to the sea

It’s time to set forth and find us some bread

Are you with me my crew? (arrrgh) they all said.

With the beach to the east and the beach to the west

none of us knew - which way we should go.

So the rest of the pirates went straight for the trees

With the Capt’n and I as we thought that was best

We walked through the woods for almost a day,

With no map to guide us or show us the way

Capt’n Steven and I were left in the dark

When on the horizon the sun disappeared

And into the darkness we stumbled and fell

Without any torches, nor flint to make fire

We were lost, that is true with nowhere to hide

Are you with me my crew? (aaargh) they replied

We came to a clearing and laid down our bones,

On the cold, lumpy ground and tried to find rest

I couldn’t find ease on the un-comfy stones

We were tired, we were hungry, we mumbled and moaned

Then we saw in the woods, a strange eerie glow,

I soon felt the fear building up in my chest

As it spat from its lips….a spine chilling groan

It soon came upon us and in the moonlight

We saw its full terror – a hideous sight

Standing 3 meters tall, the ghost of a man

A pirate no less with a patch on his eye,

An earring of gold - the size of a hand

A cutlass as long as the oars in a boat

Are you with me my crew? (arrrrrrrrrrrghh) and we ran

But the half decayed ghost was after our souls

And our tired hungry limbs, were no match for his

He screamed and he wailed and pursued us with rage

As we stumbled and bumped our way back through the wood

Screams from my crew – as they fell to his sword

(aaarrgh) cried the first

The second was worse

The third and fourth fell down dead with a curse

The fifth met his end, impaled on a tree

Until all that was left was the Captain and me

Then, the Skeletal Pirate had me in his sights

I ducked and I dodged and I bobbed and I weaved

I was too quick for him, and just out of reach

By chance, we found a way, out of the wood

And back to the wreckage washed up on the shore

To a small wooden boat which survived the mad storm

And we frantically searched for a paddle or oar

We pushed out the boat and tried to climb in

But the ghost caught a hold of the poor Captains Leg

He dug in his nails, and I recoiled in horror

As he dragged the poor Captain back onto the beach

I raised up the oar that I held in my hand

And brought it down quick on the skeletal arm

It snapped like a twig and the Captain was free

And I dragged him away from the Ghost Pirate’s reach.

We rowed for our lives, without stopping for breath

Til’ the Ghost on the Island was all but a speck

Then I looked at the wounds on the poor Captains leg.

Five puncture holes, at the base of the knee

A terrible wound, like nothing I’d seen

Blackened like frostbite, but warm to the touch

Oozing out puss, with the stench of gangrene

The poor captain’s life was slipping away

If I didn’t act quick, He couldn’t be saved

I sharpened the oar on the side of the boat

And looked my poor Captain, straight in the eyes

“It’s time to be brave, my Cap’n” I said

And without any rum and for over an hour

I suffered his wails and his tears and his cries.

Each night ever since, the Captain awakes

In a feverish sweat, tormented by dreams

He is chased through the night by a skeletal ghost

And he stumbles on crutches, through dark lonely woods

With no-one to help him or stand at his stead

He cries out aloud “ Are you with me my crew”

(Aaaargh ) they reply – As they rise from the dead.

Happy New Year

NEW BLOG UPDATE from Leighroy Marsh - Author/Songwriter....
Sorry the post's have been a bit on the sparse side recently, but my attentions have been elsewhere.  For starters, I took Myles and Ryan into the studio just before Christmas and laid down the vocals for two tracks, which can now be presented to higher beings and hopefully re-launch their careers as teenage heart throbs...
Early reviews mainly from my wife and girls indicate that the first track is a winner ( needs a bit of polish on it ) and that the second track is even better... (this has to be a first-for my wife to like any of my music).  Unfortunately due to having to make space for the Christmas tree and decorations, my keyboard had to be mothballed for the festive season and that put an end to my musical creativity.  However, I did manage to write the bones of several more tracks on the computer and even penned three new sets of lyrics of various genres.

Steve Garry caught 'man flu' just before Christmas and didn't manage to get to the studio to record the narratives of Spooky Tales, but that is on track for the following week.  I did have a go at making a little trailer for the book to get a bit of interest going.  Its going to be a very large year for the HPM and other projects, ....finally

CHRISTMAS DINNER

Written by Leighroy Marsh
a lovely little story for Christmas.....
we wish all our readers a very
Happy Christmas....
☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃☃

THE HAIRY PLUG MONSTER
HAS CHRISTMAS DINNER

As she stood by the tree
Maya's eyes opened wide,
There were stars hung all over,
With chocolates inside

Tinsel and baubles, with lights wrapped around
And even more presents, that lay on the ground
On the shelf by the fire,
Dad Placed a mince pie
With a nice juicy carrot,
So Maya asked “why”?
“You need to leave food ,
for the reindeer”, dad said
And Father Christmas wants mince pies,
to keep himself fed.
Climbing up and down chimneys all night isn’t fun,
And he can’t take a break ,
when there’s work to be done
Perhaps you can help?,
dad said with a laugh
With the Hairy plug Monster,
Who lives under the bath.
Maya thought for a while
And smiled and then said
“Maybe I could,”
And went off to bed.
A few hours later Maya hadn’t slept
So into the bathroom
She silently crept,
The Hairy Plug Monster
Was sat by the soap,
With a floppy red stocking
All Tied up with rope
Maya asked once again
Do you fancy a feed
And The Hairy Plug Monster
Smiled and agreed
We’ve got Mince Pies and chocolates,
and a huge Christmas Cake,
There’s even a turkey
All ready to bake
So they tiptoed downstairs
and walked through the hall
straight to the kitchen
to the fridge by the wall.
Maya opened the door
and they both peeked inside
And the Hairy Plug Monster’s
One Eye opened wide
There on the shelf was a large plate of Jelly
A trifle and pudding and cheese that was smelly
There was mince pies and chocolates
And cranberry jam,
Sprouts and Potatoes
And a big piece of ham
The Hairy Plug Monster
Jumped onto the shelf
He was helping himself
Maya said to her friend
That’s all we’ve go
And you can't eat the lot
But The Hairy Plug Monster,
Didn’t reply, he was already munching
On a tasty mince pie
He tried out the pudding, and some of the cake
And then all the sprouts,……….
Yuk…

What  a mistake

Yuk yuk yuk yuk
What a funny old taste
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERY ONE.......

And curled up his face
The hairy plug monster,
Was hungry no more
And sat down and sulked
On the cold kitchen floor,
Maya thought and then said
I know just what to do
Father Christmas is coming
He’ll be here very soon
They came to the front room,
And both peeked inside
And The Hairy Plug Monster’s
one eye opened Wide
There by the fire was a man dressed in red
With a big floppy hat
That was hung from his head.
His belt and his boots were shiny and black
And down by his side was a huge great big sack
Hello Father Christmas, said Maya with charm
And she held put a mincepie at the end of her arm
I’ve come to help and make sure your fed
You can sit down and rest while everyone’s in bed
Father Christmas sat down, with the pie on his knee
While Maya placed presents around the big tree
Thank you said Santa, and started to yawn,
Its time that I went,
for soon it is dawn
Father Christmas got back on his magical sleigh
Gave a carrot to Rudolph, and then flew away.
The Hairy Plug Monster needed a nap,
so he crept back upstairs
And squeezed back through the tap,
His stocking was full of presents and toys
And small yellow ducks that made a strange noise
Whats that noise, said her dad the next day with a shout
There’s a noise from the hole where the water runs out
You know who that is Maya said with a laugh
That’s The Hairy Plug Monster…..
who lives under the bath.
