MISS CARRS PIES - written by Leighroy Marsh
Author/Songwriter

“Good evening sir, can I get you a beer?
A room for the night or some tea?
There’s nobody here at this time of year I can give you a discount maybe?”
“What would be nice, is one of those pies!"
Said the traveller eyeing the tray,
“Can you warm it right up with some ale in a cup,
and tell me how much I must pay"

“I certainly can” she said to the man
“please take a seat by the fire”
“I shall warm it up quick, I ‘ll be back in a tick –
with a pie that will match your desire”
Miss Carr went away to the pies on the tray,
and selected the largest one on it
To the kitchen she went with a pie for the gent ,
whilst humming herself an old sonnet.

“So the man wants a pie”, she said with a sigh –
it will cost him much more than he thinks
She pulled out a locket from inside her pocket
and opened it over his drink.
Down poured some dust,
which was redder than rust....
It bubbled and fizzled and festered
She stirred up the brew which was thicker than stew –
but smelt rather good none the less.....

OMG!  what do think happens next...
arrrr well,  we'll have to wait and see...

AUTHOR/SONGWRITER - LEIGHROY MARSH

more verses from  ZOMBELINA
written by Leighroy Marsh - illustrated by Jodie Muir

In a box on the shelf, she already stood,
waiting for something,
to bring her to life
The Toy Master dreamt of the
joy she could bring
Like a blossom explodes from the first buds of SPRING...

Hidden deep in the woods,
was someone who might help,
she was wise and despised and they called her a WITCH
And if there was danger to visit her home
It was better than spending his life all alone!
With six silver coins in his old leather pouch
he put on his coat and set off through the snow
Down through the trees,
with the wind at his back
And clutched tight to his chest,
was the doll in a sack                       zombelina

The Toy Master came to the place where she dwelled,
and told her his needs and passed her the coin
She poked at the fire
and told him what she saw,
then pulled from the fold of her cloak - a bird’s claw!

She offered the claw,
with a vial of its blood,
"place this on the soil of a freshly made grave”
Spit on the ground!
Then repeat after me,
Your mine to command!
Your mine to set free...

A VISIT TO GRANDMA'S - from HPM Media children's books

5th December 2011

Just a teaser from author/songwriter
LEIGHROY MARSH

A VISIT TO GRANDMA'S
Were going to Grandmas
Dad called out to Maya
Who was sat reading books
Keeping warm by the fire
So pack up your toothpaste
Your toothbrush and clothes
your pink fluffy slippers
With the extra large rose
Can the Hairy Plug Monster
Come too? Maya asked
As she reached for the toothpaste
At the side of the bath,
"Of course!" said her dad
As he finished his tea,
He can sit in the front
With your mother and me.
So Maya bent down
And called out to her friend
“Do you want to see grandma
And stay the weekend?”
The Hairy plug monster
Appeared with a case

And a large floppy hat
that just covered his face….

EVERY CLOUD HAS A SIVER LINING…

what a great quote...   Mmmm, I wonder who said that?!?!
does anyone know!

As soon as we are born, these days were all encouraged to read,  starting with devoted Mums and Dads reading stories to their new born,  as toddlers bedtime stories are paramount  - also visiting Granny and Granddads  for sleepovers, sitting on sofa's or a big chair with siblings, maybe with Aunts and Uncles  cosying up when they come and stay!  Ah yes!  it all sounds so glorious almost like a family friendly idyllic film - as kids we can sit back enjoy and relax whilst others play their part in supporting our future path in the education process...
until children get to the age  of maybe 5, 6, or 7,  (or even younger than 5 depending how eager to learn or be taught they are - as every child is different)  then its down to hard slog,  learning the ABC's,  simple words, then spelling, punctuation, grammar etc, etc… we all need to read and write - our future depends on it - we can't just have imagination and creativity!!! that alone  doesn't work.

I must confess,  I never paid attention at school - and as for reading and writing  well, that was never on my list of priorities….  but hey,  way back then education seemed to be for the elite or for the privileged few;  another advantage,  being surrounded by books and taken to libraries is always a plus!  I'm sure I didn't read until I was 10ish then limited in what was on offer - my spelling was horrendous and still is (thank god there's spell check on computers - this is a wonderful application and i'd be lost without it)

So here I am,  years later published a Children's book with my son 'Author/Songwriter LEIGHROY MARSH'  -  it hasn't been all plain sailing and I do encounter some struggles but with the help of a good Collins English Dictionary and a mini Thesaurus anything is possible…  not only have we published
'The Hairy Plug Monster' Link to website  www.hairyplugmonster.com
we have in the pipeline rough drafts of more Stories and Tales - waiting to be published  as audio books,  paper back picture books, and as e-books for the coming year.  So my friends  i'm telling you to watch this space - you could be in for a surprise…    the moral of this story is  'to encourage our future generation' when ever possible as they too could also be aspiring Authors… just like LEIGHROY MARSH he has inspired many children with his story times...

AUDIO BOOK - SPOOKY TALES - WATCH THIS SPACE

Leighroy has been very pro-active this week and below is an account of what he's been up too!

Jodie Muir joins the team as Spooky Stories is prepared for the studio...

Another eventful week saw the first public reading of Zombelina by Steven Garry (actor/voice over) to school children at St. Andrew's Primary School and by all accounts it went pretty well.
Now the filming commitments for Rough and Ready look to be over for the time being, the focus is now on getting the much awaited Spooky Stories recorded and released as an audio book a.s.a.p.

Jodie Muir has joined the team to conjure up the initial artwork for the audio book with a view to illustrating the book on its release in the coming year.

zombilina+copy.jpgHere are her initial rough submissions for Zombelina and the Toymaster which capture the mood perfectly.  The dates for recording have not been finalised yet, but we expect to have the majority ready before the end of the year with the aim to releasing them as downloads at the beginning of Spring.  After spending most of the past year promoting Spooky Stories stealth
I am anticipating quite a good reception - especially for the long awaited "Golden Arm".

Here is the listings for Spooky Stories so far:

There is Something wrong with Grandad
Miss Carr's Pies
Zombelina
Golden Arm
The Commander-in-Chief-of-the-World
Show and Tell

THIS IS A SCARY TALE!

taken from our new book - SPOOKY TALES

soon to be published - written by AUTHOR/SONGWRITER
LEIGHROY MARSH
everyone's a Zombie!!!!
There’s something wrong with Granddad.
He’s acting rather strange.
He stumbles with a confused look
And doesn’t sound the same
It started at the weekend
He said that he was ill
He wouldn’t take his medicine,
Or wouldn’t take his pill
And now he’s on the landing,
With arms stretched out ahead,
With dripping blood around his lips
And scars across his head….
I didn’t mean to hit him,
But when he bit my Dad,
And took a chunk out of his arm
I thought he’s turning mad….
And now my dad is changing
His skins gone rather grey,
He really smells of nasty meat
And doesn’t want to play
They’re both outside my bedroom
And banging on my door
I’m sure they’re going to break it down,
I can’t stay here no more
I’m climbing down the drainpipe
With slippers on my feet...

Oooooops!
can't give too much away - watch out for our Audio Book - the rest of the tale you can upload - it will be available with the rest of the stories and tales!!!!!

why not post a comment
we'd love to hear from you…
